About the Position

Acted is seeking a Deputy Country Director for various locations to support the Country Director and represent Acted's interests with government and partners. Acted works with 19 million people in 43 countries, at the intersection of humanitarian, development, climate, and environmental sectors. We rely on deep local context knowledge and adopt emerging technologies to save lives, alleviate suffering, and protect and restore our planet.

Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Positioning and Fundraising

   • Analysis of the context
   • Development and deployment of the strategy
   • Networking, positioning, and general representation
   • Relationship with donors and development of project proposals
   • Advocacy: (Co-)producing strategic notes, advocacy notes, and relevant press releases on humanitarian and development issues
   • Communication: Supervising and ensuring the timely production of external communication elements in terms of programming, methods, and critical issues
   • Promotion of Acted's sister organizations

2. Internal Management and Coordination

   • Team management
   • Internal coordination
   • Crisis/conflict management
   • Establishing and training a crisis team within the country

3. Monitoring Project Implementation

   • Project implementation and monitoring
   • Grant management
   • Quality control of projects
   • Partner management

4. FLATS Management

   • Financial management
   • Logistics & IT management
   • HR and administration management
   • Monitoring external audits
   • Transparency/Compliance management
   • Security management
   • Legalization and registration follow-up

Requirements

• Higher education (Master's degree)
• Writing skills
• At least 3 years of management experience abroad
• Knowledge of the area is an asset
• Very strong organizational skills
• Experience in managing large, national, and international teams
• Experience in project management, particularly with an institutional component
• Experience in community participation, liaison with local authorities
• Skills in management and administration
• Flexibility, adaptation, stress resistance
• Patience and negotiation skills, excellent written and oral communication skills

We Offer

• Salary to be discussed according to Acted's salary scale based on education level, expertise, security level, and experience
• Monthly living expenses allowance of $300
• Accommodation in a guesthouse and meals provided by Acted
• Social security, health insurance (MSH), and repatriation assistance (SOS International) provided by Acted
• Visa fees covered by Acted
• Possible rest and recuperation trips every 2 or 3 months (airfare up to $500 + additional allowance of $200) depending on the context
• One week of pre-departure preparation including 4 days of immersive security training
• Possibility of a 30-minute call with a tax consultant
• Psychological support (appointment with a professional)
