Director – Credit Risk & Institutional Clients (m/w/d)

About the Position

An international financial institution is expanding its credit solutions platform and is seeking a senior professional to support growth across lending and risk transfer activities. The role focuses on building client relationships with global banks and underwriting credit risk solutions, particularly within commercial and residential real estate portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Originate and manage relationships with financial institutions, focusing on senior decision-makers
• Underwrite and structure credit risk transactions (single deals and portfolios), with a focus on real estate lending
• Assess credit quality, origination standards, and risk management practices of partner banks
• Negotiate and execute risk transfer agreements and related documentation
• Collaborate with internal risk, legal, and finance teams to ensure compliant deal execution
• Monitor portfolio performance and market developments, including regulatory changes
• Act as a subject matter expert in real estate credit within the broader team

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in banking, investment, or credit-focused roles
• Strong background in commercial real estate lending and structured finance
• Proven experience managing institutional client relationships and originating transactions
• Solid understanding of credit risk, regulatory frameworks, and portfolio structuring
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
