About the Position
Director, Credit Risk Review
We are seeking a Director, Credit Risk Review to join our Financial Risk team in New York. This role focuses on credit risk management practices and requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in wholesale credit risk management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CRR Head of Department to implement and continuously evolve the strategic vision for the function.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous improvement.
- Balance collaborative engagement with effective, credible challenge of credit risk management practices.
- Develop and refine sector and/or product-type expertise to support credibility in challenging 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense credit risk managers.
- Execute target reviews/examinations of individual obligors for alignment with bank credit risk standards.
- When acting as Reviewer-in-Charge (RIC), evaluate work of CRR team members to ensure high-quality and consistent outputs.
- Initiate Issue Validation Reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of management’s remedial actions to address CRR-identified formal issues.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex or contentious reviews, providing balanced and well-informed judgments.
- Lead or assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree
- 12+ years of experience with wholesale credit risk management.
- Extensive experience with assignment of U.S. bank regulatory risk ratings.
- Effective communication skills for presenting complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
- Sector Experience within Energy & Power (Upstream, Midstream, Downstream, Renewables, and Utilities) plus one or more of the following industries/product types: Asset Based Lending, Asset Securitizations, Commercial Real Estate, Funds Finance, Leveraged Lending, Mining, & Project Finance.
- Demonstrated experience with effectively challenging decision makers.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
