About the Position

Director Data & AI Engineering (m/f/d)

OMMAX GmbH, a leading digital strategy consultancy, is seeking a Director Data & AI Engineering to lead strategic data and AI projects in a dynamic team based in München, Germany.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic and operational delivery of Data & AI engineering engagements.
• Work directly with client executives and technology leaders to shape Data & AI roadmaps.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in building scalable data platforms, backend services, AI applications, LLM and agentic systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, reliability, scalability, governance, usability, and cost.
• Create an environment of rapid, disciplined iteration with clients and users.
• Own portfolio quality, staffing, profitability, client satisfaction, technical standards, and the development of engineering leaders.
• Drive business development, strategic proposals, reusable assets, partnerships, and the continuous evolution of OMMAX Data & AI Engineering offerings.

Requirements

• Outstanding degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• Several years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, AI engineering, or backend development, ideally in a consulting environment.
• Strong expertise in building scalable systems and working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with modern data architectures, APIs, and the integration of AI and LLM components.
• Highly proficient in Python and experienced in building production-grade applications.
• Strong analytical thinking and a structured, solution-oriented approach.
• Proactive, team-oriented manner and ownership of responsibilities.
• Fluent in English; additional local language skills are a plus.
