REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Public Affairs and Advocacy in Winston-Salem, NC.
Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive public affairs strategies from concept through execution, integrating earned media, paid amplification, digital engagement, grassroots and grasstops outreach, and influential third-party partnerships to advance organizational priorities in dynamic policy environments.
- Craft and evolve persuasive policy positioning and advocacy messaging that connects with policymakers, stakeholders, and diverse audiences across the political landscape.
- Collaborate closely with federal and state Government Affairs teams to ensure communications strategies reinforce legislative priorities, key policy objectives, and critical external engagements.
- Cultivate, activate, and oversee coalitions to broaden impact and reinforce credibility.
- Develop and execute innovative public affairs campaigns delivering strategic programs that drive visibility and results.
- Oversee integrated stakeholder engagement initiatives, third parties, grasstops relationship management, and thought leadership programming.
- Implement clear performance benchmarks and reporting frameworks, using analytics and real-time insights to evaluate effectiveness, optimize strategy, and improve campaign performance.
- Manage high-profile public affairs initiatives within established budgets, aligning resources strategically to maximize efficiency, return on investment, and measurable outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5–7+ years of political campaign and/or complex government relations experience in highly competitive, high-visibility environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in bipartisan settings, building trust and advancing priorities across diverse political perspectives.
- Proven self-starter with a strong sense of ownership-able to navigate ambiguity, move with urgency, and deliver results with minimal direction.
- High degree of resilience, tenacity, and sound judgment; thrives under pressure and persists through challenges to achieve objectives.
- Collaborative, team-oriented leader who can influence without authority and work cross-functionally to drive alignment and impact.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to prioritize, allocate resources effectively, and execute campaigns that deliver maximum value.
