About the Position

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, is seeking an Economic Recovery Assistant to join our team in Gedaref, Sudan. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines, and in delivering effective activities including cash-for-work (CfW), vocational training (TVET), entrepreneurship support, MSME strengthening, and financial inclusion initiatives. The position plays a key role in community engagement, beneficiary support, data collection, and coordination with local stakeholders to improve employment and income opportunities and strengthen resilience among vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative or technical support with the implementation of emergency activities in the area as well as other programs, where needed and relevant.
  • Assists the sector officer in ensuring compliance with DRC and donor processes, quality of the planning, implementation, and follow-up of emergency activities in line with sector guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Carries out basic tasks within the sector area, including beneficiary identification, distribution of relief assistance (either cash or in-kind), needs assessments, and other sector-specific evaluations.
  • Supports the Economic Recovery Officer in rolling out livelihood counseling forms and collecting data from beneficiaries.
  • Helps organize and coordinate day-to-day implementation of livelihood activities such as vocational training, Business grants, cash for work, job referrals, and skills training.
  • Inputs and updates beneficiary information and referrals into DRC’s database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Supports in delivering follow-up communication with beneficiaries regarding their next steps.
  • Carries out administrative tasks, including preparation of PRs, POs, service contracts, financial reconciliation, and tracking of outputs.
  • Ensures timely reporting of outputs and escalation of issues faced during program implementation.
  • Coordinates with the Protection and other teams to support protection mainstreaming in all activities.
  • Follows given work plans and guidelines.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in:
    • Livelihoods or economic recovery programming
    • NGO or humanitarian sector work
    • Cash-based interventions or CfW
    • Entrepreneurship or SME support (preferred)
    • Experience in conflict or displacement contexts is an advantage.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Economics
    • Business Administration
    • Development Studies
    • Agriculture or related field
  • Fluency in Arabic
  • Basic proficiency in English
