We are seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with expertise in Embedded C and Python for a role based in Shanghai, China. You will support a vendor-managed EFI Diags team, working on-site at a client office. Your role will involve configuring and validating firmware for new products, running builds and releases, triaging issues, and supporting factory build readiness. You will also maintain test scripts in Python or Lua and partner with factory and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain firmware targets for new products, features, and requirements
  • Validate firmware operability on new products and support debugging through logs and traces
  • Run daily builds and support releases, including publishing clear release notes
  • Triage incoming issues, resolve straightforward defects, and escalate blockers to internal developers
  • Provide factory support by reproducing issues at stations or labs and validating engineering builds
  • Maintain and create factory test scripts in Python or Lua for new test requirements
  • Act as primary point of contact across factory build, test, electrical engineering, firmware, and program teams
  • Track priorities, escalate build blockers, and provide status in build-prep meetings

Requirements

  • Scripting skills in Python or Lua for test automation or diagnostics workflows
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols including I2C, SPI, and USB
  • Ability to read schematics and reason about hardware design constraints
  • Debugging strength using logs, traces, and systematic root-cause analysis
  • Ownership to drive issues to closure, track tasks, and re-prioritize based on build needs
  • Multitasking ability to handle frequent context switching in a build environment
  • Willingness to travel to the factory for build support as needed

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and EDK II (EDK2) environments
