About the Position
Embedded Software Engineer
XDIN, a subsidiary of ALTEN Group, is a leader in automotive engineering development with 500 employees dedicated to supporting OEM and Tier I clients. We are seeking a world-class Embedded Software Engineer to join our global team in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Breaks down requirements of electrical systems into component level and writes detailed software specifications.
- Writes component level hardware requirements, including microcontroller, Stepper Motor, LCD specifications, CAN & LIN, I/Os, Voltage and Power, Pining & Connectors, PCB, EMI/EMC, Styling, Packaging, Chemical/Thermal & vibration aspects.
- Interprets and implements automotive standards, guidelines, and legal regulations impacting commercial vehicles in the North American market.
- Participates in supplier requirement, design, and test reviews for hardware and software.
- Works with field and warranty claims regarding tools, processes, and methods.
- Uses quality tools and implements resulting actions into the component development plan.
- Releases components (Hardware & Software) into the Volvo PDM system and maintains component roadmaps.
- Works with purchasing buyers for supplier selection and development.
- Plans, monitors, and controls all lowest-level milestones for component development.
- Reports to electrical project managers or engineering task leaders during the project phase.
- Supports electrical management teams with cost and time estimations and suggests alternative solutions.
- Adheres to configuration management guidelines and product development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering or Science in Electrical and/or Electronics; specialization in embedded systems is a plus.
- 8 years of overall experience with at least 5 years focusing on automotive electronics development.
- Experience developing instrument clusters/infotainment systems in the capacity of component owner.
- Software development (HMI, C/C++) experience is a plus.
- Experience working in an agile environment with shorter development cycles/SPRINTS is a plus.
