Embedded Systems Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to develop specialized devices and firmware for integration with onboard systems. The primary focus will be on firmware development in C/C++, while also working with the entire device: running and diagnosing boards, finding issues at the hardware-software interface, formulating hardware change requirements, and verifying the results.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers.
• Work with bare metal, RTOS, peripherals, and drivers.
• Integrate devices via UART, I²C, and other interfaces depending on the project.
• Run new or modified boards.
• Read schematics and verify the operation of key components.
• Perform measurements with a multimeter, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer.
• Localize issues at the firmware, schematic, component, and external interface boundaries.
• Formulate hardware change requirements and verify the results of the hardware engineer's work.
• Integrate devices into aircraft and connect them to Raspberry Pi, Jetson, and other onboard computers.
• Participate in bench, ground, and flight tests.
• If necessary, participate in the launch of the first production units and the resolution of complex technical defects.

Requirements

• Proficient programming in C/C++.
• Practical experience with bare metal and at least one RTOS.
• Experience in developing firmware for modern microcontrollers.
• Experience in developing or adapting peripheral drivers.
• Practical experience with UART and I²C.
• Ability to read schematics.
• Experience in initial board setup and diagnostics.
• Proficient use of a multimeter, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer.
• Experience working with a physical device used in real-world conditions or transferred to production.
• Ability to independently build a diagnostic plan, test hypotheses, and localize problems.
• Willingness to verify results on an actual device, not just at the code level.
• Ability to document how to assemble, flash, and test the device.

Nice to Have

• Experience with STM32, ESP32, or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with CAN, MAVLink, or DroneCAN.
• Python for test scripts, automation, and log analysis.
• Basic soldering of wires, connectors, and simple components.
• Ability to make simple changes to schematics.
• Experience in preparing devices for production or participating in the launch of the first batch.
• Experience in creating test firmware, utilities, or test benches.
• Experience with UAVs, robotics, automotive, or industrial electronics.
• Integration of MCU devices with Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or other Linux computers.
