About the Role
DNV Energy Systems is seeking an Energy Engineer with deep expertise in data center energy systems to support the Silicon Valley Power (SVP) EnergyEfficiency Incentive Program. This role involves conducting technical assessments, reviewing energy models and efficiency applications, performing on-site assessments, audits, and inspections, and delivering customer education. The Energy Engineer will also manage projects, guide customers through the incentive process, and engage in community outreach to promote program participation and awareness. This role is based at our DNV office in Santa Clara, CA, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. What You’ll Do
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the programs’ strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and the business activities of its customers
- Work with building owners, property managers, and or contractors to provide energy efficiency advice and assistance in participating in energy efficiency programs
- Conduct facility walk-throughs to identify energy efficiency opportunities and generate a corresponding summary report
- Conduct community outreach including program presentations to inform customers and contractors of energy efficiency incentive offerings
- Review and verify technical merits of business customer energy efficiency applications, including calculation of energy savings and verification of equipment specifications
- Review energy models submitted as part of energy efficiency applications to evaluate baseline assumptions and design impacts
- Perform customer site inspections to verify the installation of energy efficient equipment at utility commercial and industrial businesses
- Develop and/or evaluate request for proposals to support energy efficiency projects
- Project management support

- Weekly, monthly, and annual reporting
Requirements
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or similar disciplines
- Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in the energy efficiency field
- Experience with eQuest and/or Energy Plus modeling software
- Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- An understanding of key application specific analytical tools including but not limited to data filtering, sorting and pivot tables
- Technical writing experience
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and climb up/down a ladder
- Proactively seeks to identify real customer needs and manages customer expectations accordingly
- A demonstrated positive, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude
- Excellent English communication (both verbal and written), focus on customer service, organization and grammar skills are essential
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Preferred:
- Understanding of Data Center energy efficiency and experience to conduct energy assessment
