About the Role

An Engagement Manager is someone who has the ultimate ability to communicate well as well as sharp negotiation skills that will lead the project to success. A project can fail with a good Engagement Manager, but it can’t succeed with a bad one. An oversimplistic definition? If a project were the solar system, the engagement manager would be the sun.

Responsibilities

You’re going to be the bridge between the stakeholders and the technical team. You need to understand what the client needs and manage their expectations against what the team can deliver. Sprint planning and review, reporting, managing budgets and timelines, scopes, changes… well, that’s a lot of work.

Requirements

Ideally, you will have some background in related projects – being, or not, an Engagement Manager.
You should be aware of how software is built and delivered.
You should know how the Agile methodology works.
You need to be able to communicate – and communicate well.

Communication is especially important, because there are a lot of ways to say the same thing and, most often than not, the same thing can have several meanings. A tennis ball can be described either as a “tennis ball” or as “a round object of small size with a bouncy behavior that may release some fur into the air when hit and it is used either in a sport or just to entertain dogs”. See the difference?

Ability to properly communicate (write and speak) in English is mandatory. Ability to travel, if required, is a plus.
