About the Team

Dział IT Core to technologiczne serce Grupy LPP, odpowiedzialne za fundamenty i stabilność kluczowych systemów biznesowych. Projektujemy i utrzymujemy wysokowydajną, skalowalną architekturę, która stanowi bazę dla wszystkich procesów organizacji oraz integracji nowych produktów technologicznych. Jako Engineering Manager w tym obszarze, przejmiesz odpowiedzialność za standardy delivery i rozwój zespołów budujących rozwiązania typu high-availability. Twoja praca zapewni systemową stabilność niezbędną do globalnego wzrostu Grupy, łącząc techniczną doskonałość z odpowiedzialnością za krytyczne operacje biznesowe.

What is Important to Us

• Leadership Experience: Minimum 4 years in managing a development team working in Agile/Scrum methodology
• Scaling: Experience in leading at least two teams simultaneously
• Technical Background: Experience as a Java programmer (or in another object-oriented language), Tech Lead, or architect. We do not expect you to write code, but we expect you to understand architecture and technical challenges at a level that allows for substantive conversation and reliable feedback for developers, testers, and analysts
• People Management: Experience in conducting 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, working with individual goals and development plans, and providing constructive feedback
• Project Management: Experience in estimating effort (MD), planning schedules, and being responsible for timeliness and predictability of deliveries
• Knowledge of Different Software Development Approaches: Scrum, Kanban, hybrid approaches. You can choose the right model for the team's character (development vs. maintenance)
• Build & Run: Practical knowledge of SDLC and CI/CD, and working based on indicators (SLA, MTTR, velocity, lead time)
• Quality: Experience in improving production quality through the development of tests (unit, integration, regression automation), code review standards, and Definition of Done
• Technical Environment: Knowledge of distributed systems architecture and container environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OKD/OpenShift)
• Knowledge of design patterns and best practices in software architecture
• Ability to set priorities and make decisions in a complex environment based on business goals
• Experience in identifying and implementing production process improvements, also using AI tools
• Ability to reduce reactive work and consciously manage technical debt
• Ability to build an atmosphere of open communication, engagement, and ownership
• AI-powered skills: Experience in working with AI tools that translates into measurable time savings and quality improvement
• Willingness to work from the office in Gdańsk 3 days a week

What You Will Do

• Manage Teams: Lead 2-3 production teams (approx. 15 people), taking care of their development, motivation, onboarding, performance reviews, and effective collaboration
• Develop People: Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, provide substantive feedback to developers, testers, and analysts, and build a culture of feedback and ownership
• Ensure Delivery (Build): Implement roadmaps in cooperation with Product Owners and be responsible for estimates (MD), timeliness and predictability of project implementation, and the quality of delivered changes (Definition of Done)
• Guarantee Stability (Run): Ensure system availability (SLA), reduce repair time (MTTR), eliminate technical debt, and ensure team readiness for periods of increased business load
• Plan Capacity: Balance team work between projects, product development, and maintenance work
• Manage Risk: Identify dependencies, blockers, and project and operational risks (e.g., "single points of failure") and transparently communicate them to stakeholders
• Optimize the Way of Working: Improve SDLC and CI/CD processes, choose the right model for team needs, and reduce reactive work
• Act as Delivery Lead: Coordinate and manage project implementation from the IT side, from planning and estimation, through team synchronization, to production deployment
• Collaborate: Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, IT Operations, and business, ensuring architectural consistency of solutions and achieving business goals
• Implement AI: Use AI tools to increase the quality and efficiency of production and testing processes in teams
• Develop Yourself: Actively acquire knowledge and support the development of an engineering culture in the IT Core department

Recruitment Stages

• Phone Screen (15-20 min) – a brief conversation about your expectations, availability, and key points of professional experience
• First Meeting (1.5h) – an online meeting with managers with whom the role will closely cooperate – as a good opportunity to get to know each other better – team fit is very important to us, which is why we work well together
• Second Meeting (1.5h) – an on-site and/or online meeting with the Director of the IT Core Department – during the conversation, we will have the opportunity to better understand your expectations and talk about our plans (1h)
