About the Position

We are seeking an Expert- Forensic Photography for a roster position to provide training and technical guidance in forensic photography for personnel involved in the examination and identification of human remains.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver theoretical and practical training in forensic photography for up to 20 personnel involved in the examination and identification of human remains.
  • Provide technical guidance on the photographic documentation of human remains, personal effects, and associated evidence in accordance with international standards.
  • Provide technical guidance on the use of close-up (macro) photography, alternative lighting, and 3D photogrammetry.
  • Demonstrate best practices for forensic photography during mortuary examinations and laboratory-based analyses.
  • Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and training materials relating to forensic photography.
  • Advise on the selection, use, and maintenance of photographic equipment and associated imaging technologies.
  • Promote standardized photographic workflows, including image capture, file management, secure storage, metadata recording, and chain of custody.
  • Provide recommendations to improve the quality, consistency, and admissibility of photographic evidence collected during forensic investigations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a forensic photographer in medicolegal, disaster victim identification (DVI), humanitarian, conflict, or human rights investigations.
  • Experience delivering technical training to adult learners.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international standards and best practices for forensic photographic documentation.
  • Experience photographing differentially preserved human remains in mortuary environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
  • Previous international or post-conflict experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work with interpreter/translators.
