About the Position

Facilities Maintenance Technician

Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and readiness of Peraton's office facilities in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Work Order & Service Request Management

    • Receive, triage, and complete work order requests through the ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Maximo, Archibus).
    • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs: lighting, ceiling tiles, doors/locks, furniture, plumbing fixtures, HVAC comfort adjustments, minor electrical, and general handyman tasks.
    • Escalate work outside of scope or trade certification to the appropriate licensed vendor and manage that vendor to completion.
  • Program Customer Coordination

    • Serve as the primary on-site facilities point of contact for program teams and building occupants.
    • Communicate proactively on service status, scheduled outages, disruptions, and completion timelines.
    • Support program-specific facility requirements (secure spaces, lab areas, specialized rooms) in coordination with security and program leadership.
    • Conduct routine walk-throughs and respond to occupant concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Office Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC)

    • Coordinate and execute employee moves, workstation reconfigurations, and departmental relocations.
    • Plan move logistics: labeling, sequencing, furniture disassembly/reassembly, IT hand-off, and post-move punch list.
    • Partner with IT, Security, and HR to ensure seating, badge access, phone/data drops, and nameplates are aligned on move day.
    • Maintain accurate space and occupancy records.
  • Site Openings & Closures

    • Support new site stand-ups: furniture installation, signage, supply stocking, initial vendor setup, and readiness inspections.
    • Support site closures: decommissioning of furniture and equipment, asset disposition, records handling, vendor termination coordination, and landlord turnover walk-throughs.
    • Coordinate with Corporate Real Estate, Security, IT, and program leadership on move-in/move-out schedules and punch lists.
  • Vendor Coordination

    • Coordinate day-to-day activities of janitorial, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pest control, landscaping, and other service vendors; verify quality of work.
  • Safety, Compliance & Readiness

    • Conduct routine facility inspections; identify and correct safety hazards.
    • Support life safety systems checks (fire extinguishers, AEDs, emergency lighting, exit signage) and coordinate required annual inspections.
    • Follow OSHA, NFPA, and Peraton EH&S policies; maintain a clean, organized shop and work area.
    • Participate in emergency response, business continuity, and after-hours as needed.
  • General

    • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with employees, customers, and visitors.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of hands-on facilities maintenance, building operations, or general trades experience in an office/commercial environment.
  • Working knowledge of general building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and life safety (troubleshooting to the technician level).
  • Experience using a work order ticketing system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of staff and program customers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform work requiring standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • TS-SCI or ability to obtain.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical/vocational training or knowledge of HVAC and electrical.
  • Experience supporting office moves, new site openings, or site closures in a multi-site corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with vendor management and small-purchase procurement processes.
  • Experience in a government contracting or cleared-facility environment.

We Offer

  • Competitive salary range: $51,000 - $82,000.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, health savings account, short/long term disability, EAP, parental leave, 401(k), paid time off (PTO) for vacation, and company paid holidays.
  • Opportunity to work in a dynamic and impactful environment.
