Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We are seeking a RCDD Communications Designer for federal projects, specializing in designing and coordinating communication systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines
- Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverables
- Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production
- Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews
- Manage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedules
- Mentoring and providing guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members
- May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports
- May assist with creation of design guides and templates
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
Requirements
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes, and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective
- Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity
- Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems
- Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design
- 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems
