Location: London, UK

Employment Type: Permanent

Work Location Type: Hybrid

About the Role

As a Financial Controller for Germany at Storio Group, you will take full ownership of financial control, statutory reporting, and financial close for all German legal entities. You will act as the trusted technical accounting expert for the country, protecting the integrity of our financial statements and maintaining strong controls. Operating with clear autonomy, you will ensure our accounting meets Group Accounting Policies, IFRS, and local statutory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close for German entities, preparing and submitting accurate financial statements under IFRS and Group guidelines.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and deferred revenue schedules to prevent period leakage.
  • Own inventory valuation and accounting, collaborating with Supply Chain to manage cycle counts, review costing, and establish correct reserves.
  • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, overseeing capitalization assessments with project teams, depreciation schedules, periodic audits, and impairment reviews.
  • Guide the Accounting Service Centre on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable workflows to maintain high reporting standards and resolve process bottlenecks.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reporting for Treasury and review monthly financial variances alongside FP&A to support forecasts and operational planning.

Requirements

  • Extensive progressive accounting experience, ideally starting in a major audit practice and advancing through a multinational corporate environment.
  • Deep practical knowledge of IFRS, local statutory standards, and the mechanics of balance sheet control.
  • Advanced technical fluency in Microsoft Excel, including complex modelling, lookup formulas, and pivot analysis.
  • Hands-on experience working with enterprise ERP systems, ideally Oracle Fusion.
  • Proven ability to explain technical accounting matters clearly to non-finance teams and build collaborative working relationships across functions.
  • Sharp analytical focus, a detail-oriented mindset, and the confidence to challenge figures constructively.

Nice to Have

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA, paired with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional fluency in German.
  • A track record of leading finance transformation or automation projects within an international business.

We Offer

  • Opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial health of Storio Group.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Professional growth and development opportunities.
