FinCrime Quality Senior Specialist

About the Position

We are looking for a FinCrime Quality Senior Specialist to join our growing team in Austin. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a compliance specialist, and help save millions more people money.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Check-the-Checker (CTC) Reviews:

  • Perform regular quality checks on Quality Specialists, vendors, and products to ensure work quality in a timely manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback to Quality Specialists for performance improvement and to ensure QC teams remain consistent.
  • Identify repeated errors and compliance risks and escalate them to compliance oversight from CTC and regular quality reviews.

• Manage and Respond to QC Review Disputes:

  • Review and close disputes in a timely manner and respond to Operations accordingly.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to objectively review cases and provide feedback that is constructive and considers the operational agent’s perspective.

• Arrange and Lead Calibration Sessions for Quality Specialists:

  • Own calibration sessions and ensure team alignment on how to use the Quality Framework for consistent reviews and results.
  • Organize and run recurring calibration sessions, assess how well the team is calibrated, and work with peers to ensure all teams are calibrated.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation on calibration discussions including cases calibrated, final decisions, and action items proposed.

• Training & Mentoring:

  • Assist in onboarding new joiners and mentoring specialists.
  • Create structured training plans and lead training sessions to equip new employees with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Evaluate the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of new team members to determine their readiness to undertake their roles and responsibilities (accreditation).

Requirements

• Must-Have's:

  • In-depth knowledge of AML/CTF guidelines and/or FinCrime controls.
  • Experience in a Fintech and/or FinCrime environment, preferably 6+ months in a FinCrime-related role (AML/SAR or FINCEN experience would be ideal).
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Looker, SQL, Lightdash) to extract insights for investigations and process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in problem-solving and risk management.

• Nice-to-Have's:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
  • Certifications: ICA, CAMS, CFE, BASEL, or equivalent certification (especially with a focus on SAR/STR/Regulatory Compliance/FinCrime Compliance/US controls).
  • Certification or training in project management.
  • Experience in outsourcing projects and auditing.
  • Experience working in cross-team/global timezones.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
