Flight Software Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a Flight Software Engineer to join our team at TMC in Milan, Italy. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing embedded software for avionics systems and satellite platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of embedded software for avionics systems and satellite platforms
• Manage the full lifecycle of the software: requirements, development, integration, testing, and reporting
• Configuration and customization of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) for OBC
• Integration and testing of flight software on avionics and complete satellites
• Support in the definition and use of performance analysis tools
• Development of support tools (scripts, simulators, digital twins)
• Collaboration with system and hardware teams for SW/HW integration
• Support in the production implementation of the software
• Maintenance of the software in orbit and support of Flight Operations throughout the mission lifecycle

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar disciplines (equivalent experience considered)
• 2 years of experience in software development for flight applications (OBC)
• Good experience with software development in C and C++
• Familiarity with RTOS and techniques for multi-thread software design
• Use of Git or other versioning systems
• Familiarity with electronic laboratory instrumentation
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
• Use of scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ruby)
• Knowledge of interfaces and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, SpaceWire)
• Excellent communication skills and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams
• Italian C2, fluent written and spoken English

We Offer

• Indefinite contract
• Base salary (gross annual income – RAL) starting at a minimum of €36,000, in accordance with the provisions of the CAO Handel – Tertiary, Distribution, and Services
• Competitive salary package including direct participation in project profits (profit sharing), an individual training budget of 4,000 net euros per year, and an annual welfare credit
