Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
FP&A Manager
We are seeking an FP&A Manager to join our team in New York or San Francisco. This role offers a competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
Responsibilities
- Be the financial thought partner and strategist for key parts of Headway's business. Serve as the embedded Finance partner to several major departments - owning the financial strategy behind how those teams invest, manage spend, and drive toward profitability.
- Lead financial deep dives that drive decisions. Run the financial analyses and deep dives that identify business problems, root-cause them, and surface early signals - then turn that into strategies that accelerate progress.
- Help the company understand its performance at both a micro and macro level. Support company-wide consolidation, shape the performance narrative that tells leadership how the business is really tracking, and take on the ad-hoc financial analyses that inevitably arise in a fast-scaling business.
- Help drive the company's strategic planning. Play a central role in the processes where Headway defines its strategy and understands the financial implications - Annual Planning, Long-Range Vision - serving as a key Finance voice to teams across the company.
- Bring AI into the workflow. Actively apply AI tools to drive faster insight, greater efficiency, and smarter decision-making across the FP&A workflow - and help shape how the team works as those tools evolve.
Requirements
- Experience: 6+ years of experience, ideally blending Investment Banking, Consulting, or Private Equity/VC with a highly analytical strategic finance role at a fast-growing company.
- Analytical Skills: You bring a point of view on day one.
- Attention to Detail: You take a "measure twice, cut once" approach to financial data. You're detail-oriented and rigorous, highly proficient in Google Sheets and BI tools, and comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
- Impact: You make the business better, not just the model. You embed with department leaders, earn their trust quickly, and translate finance into decisions that sharpen spend discipline and efficiency.
- AI Proficiency: You see AI as a competitive advantage for finance, not a feature to explore someday. You actively use AI tools to work faster, sharpen your analysis, and make smarter calls - and you bring that orientation to the team around you.
- Problem Solving: You bring structure to ambiguity. You're a resourceful self-starter who seeks context, solves open-ended problems, anticipates stakeholder needs, and stays flexible when priorities shift.
- Communication: You communicate complex insights clearly. You tailor your message to the audience - finance vs. business and product partners - and make the takeaway impossible to miss.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Pay Range: $152,000 - $200,000 based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
- Equity: Eligible for an equity grant, depending on the position and level.
- Benefits:
- Equity compensation
- Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
- HSA / FSA
- 401K
- Work-from-Home Stipend
- Therapy Reimbursement
- 16-week parental leave for eligible employees
- Carrot Fertility annual reimbursement and membership
- 13 paid holidays each year as well as a Holiday Break during the week between December 25th and December 31st
- Flexible PTO
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Training and professional development
About the Company
Headway is committed to building a new mental healthcare system everyone can access. We started by solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. The admin work - credentialing, claims, payment reconciliation - is a nightmare. We've automated that.
But we're going further. Over 75,000 providers across all 50 states run their practice on our software, serving over 1 million patients. We are building the best tools for therapists to run their entire practice, reimagining the experience of finding a therapist, and investing in the platform foundations to enable this at scale. We aren't just a billing layer; we are becoming the platform where care actually happens.
We're a Series D company with $325M+ in funding (a16z, Accel, Spark Capital, etc.), looking for exceptional people to help us achieve this mission. We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.
