About the Position
At Merge Rocks, we're looking for a Freelance Motion Designer to join our team for a short-term project creating a 2D product launch video from concept to final delivery.
About Merge Rocks
Merge Rocks is a UX-first design and development agency focused on B2B, SaaS, and FinTech products. We’re a remote international team working with clients across the US, Europe, Australia, and other markets. We value clear communication, ownership, strong product thinking, and people who care about the reasoning behind the design - not just the final visuals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the briefing and discovery process with the client
- Understand the product, its audience, and key value proposition
- Develop the concept and narrative for the launch video
- Create or refine the script
- Prepare the storyboard and visual direction
- Create or adapt UI screens needed for the video
- Produce the final 2D animation
- Present your ideas to the client and work through feedback and revisions
- Own the process from the first call to final delivery
Requirements
- Strong experience in 2D motion design
- Experience creating product launch, SaaS, tech, app, or explainer videos
- Proven experience managing video projects end to end
- Ability to work with scripts, storyboards, visual storytelling, and UI
- Strong product thinking - you can understand a digital product and turn its value into a clear visual story
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Professional English or Spanish
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the creative process
Nice to Have
- Experience with SaaS, FinTech, or other digital products
- Strong Figma skills
- Creative direction or art direction experience
- Experience working with international clients or founders
We Offer
- Fully remote, project-based collaboration
- Direct communication with the client and the Merge Rocks team
- Freedom to own and shape the creative process
- Clear project scope, timeline, and budget
- Potential for future project-based collaboration with Merge Rocks
