About the Position

Frontend Engineer

At ING, we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Frontend Software Engineer to join our team in Madrid, Spain.

Responsibilities

As an experienced Software Engineer Frontend, your aim will be:

  • To design, develop and test the code that will shape the different components of the application, ensuring that they meet the requirements of functionality, quality, and performance.
  • To deliver working software in Production by utilizing the best technologies and development practices, including documentation and parameters that can help achieve this goal.
  • To support Production by analyzing and fixing any bugs that occur.
  • To contribute to the technical discipline by collaborating with the cross-technical chapter.
  • To add value on the technical frontend layer while keeping in mind the rest of the technical stack as part of the Squad responsibilities.

Requirements

Essential

  • A hardcore JavaScript developer with extensive experience in developing frontend applications with JavaScript (ES5/ES6), HTML, and CSS (experience with the latest version as well).
  • Extensive knowledge in frontend frameworks and working experience in developing web components using one or more frameworks: Angular 8+, ReactJS, Polymer, or Lit-HTML/Lit-Element.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development & test automation.
  • Knowledge of JSON, REST, and web services.
  • Experience with web testing stack: Karma, Chai, Sinon, Jasmine.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools like GIT, Jenkins, Yarn, NPM, and Bower, and the ability to configure these tools.
  • Experience with Rollup, Webpack, and Node-based CLIs.
  • Understanding of frontend design patterns and architecture.
  • Familiarity with micro-frontend strategies.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum or as a Scrum Master.
  • Backend & DevOps awareness (understanding the global architecture/infrastructure).
  • Testing: Unit Testing (techniques: White-box/Black-box, What is a unit?), Types of testing (unit testing, integration, and smoke), JUnit, Contract Testing, Framework mocks (Mockito, Mockmvc, Wiremock, Powermock).
  • Maven.
  • Docker, Openshift, or Kubernetes.
  • Ansible.
  • Git.
  • DDD.
  • CI/CD pipelines.
  • Agile team experience with SCRUM, Kanban, or XP.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English are a must.
  • Strong communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with Java, including the Spring framework.
