About the Position
We are seeking a Functional Specialist (ISG) with 11-14 years of experience in Jenkins, Oracle Xstore, and Java 8 for a hybrid role in Hyderabad, Chennai, or Kolkata, India.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product owners and store operations partners to translate complex retail workflows into Oracle Xstore configurations and custom Java 8 components that improve daily store efficiency and accuracy in transactions and reporting.
- Design and refine end-to-end store point of sale journeys including promotions, returns, discounts, tenders, and loyalty flows to ensure consistent and intuitive experiences for frontline store teams and customers.
- Configure Oracle Xstore Point of Sale to align with regional compliance rules, tax structures, and store policies while maintaining a standard global template that is easy to evolve over time.
- Develop and maintain Java 8-based extensions and services that integrate Xstore with upstream and downstream retail systems such as inventory, pricing, customer data, and order management platforms.
- Build and optimize Jenkins pipelines that automate build, test, and deployment processes for Xstore components and allied Java services ensuring stable and repeatable releases to multiple environments.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and environment teams to maintain reliable hybrid environments for development, testing, and production with clear runbooks and recovery procedures for point of sale systems.
- Analyze store incident trends and performance metrics to identify root causes, propose targeted fixes, and drive continuous improvement in transaction speed, stability, and usability.
- Document detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for new store capabilities ensuring that requirements from operations, finance, and compliance partners are clearly captured and testable.
- Guide site integration testing, user acceptance testing, and pilot rollouts for new point of sale features ensuring that store colleagues are supported by clear scenarios, training inputs, and feedback loops.
- Partner with support and operations teams to establish effective monitoring, alerting, and incident handling practices so that store systems issues are detected early and resolved with minimal business disruption.
- Provide functional expertise during production cutovers and maintenance windows by validating data flows, running focused checklists, and confirming that core selling processes remain fully available and accurate.
- Engage with security and risk stakeholders to ensure that Xstore and related Java services follow secure coding practices, access controls, and audit requirements that protect payment and customer information.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues on Xstore concepts, Jenkins pipeline practices, and Java 8 patterns sharing practical examples from store projects and fostering a culture of quality and accountability.
Requirements
- Combine eleven to fourteen years of professional experience in retail technology or store systems with deep familiarity of day-to-day store operations including cashier activities, back office tasks, and store management workflows.
- Demonstrate strong hands-on experience with Oracle Xstore Point of Sale including configuration of tenders, discounts, returns, promotions, and integration points that support complex retail scenarios.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Java 8 to design modular, maintainable, and performant code that extends Xstore capabilities and connects to enterprise retail services such as pricing and inventory.
- Use Jenkins to design robust continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that manage branching strategies, automated testing, artifacts, and deployments for store solutions.
- Bring proven experience working in hybrid work models collaborating effectively with distributed teams and using modern agile practices to deliver incremental value to store operations.
- Exhibit strong analytical and communication skills that enable effective collaboration with store colleagues, business stakeholders, and technical teams while focusing on measurable outcomes such as faster checkout and fewer incidents.
- Show understanding of retail compliance, taxation, and payment processing practices and apply this knowledge to ensure that point of sale implementations meet regulatory and audit expectations.
