Game Data Scientist – Product Analytics

About the Position

We’re looking for a Game Data Scientist who thrives at the intersection of gameplay, economy, and product analytics. You’ll work with rich behavioral datasets to help shape engaging and optimized experiences for millions of players.

This is a cross-functional role where you’ll collaborate closely with game developers, product managers, and data professionals to bring clarity, experimentation, and strategic insight to gameplay progression, level balancing, feature design, and economy tuning.

Responsibilities

• Analyze player behavior, level progression, and gameplay loops to surface insights that drive engagement and retention.
• Partner with game economy and product teams to optimize sinks, sources, and pacing across the player lifecycle.
• Design and evaluate A/B tests to assess new features, progression changes, or economy adjustments.
• Create clear visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings across disciplines.
• Identify patterns, friction points, and growth opportunities in the player journey using advanced analytics and statistical techniques.
• Translate data into product strategy, guiding the team toward high-impact decisions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a data scientist or product analyst, ideally in the gaming industry.
• Strong command of SQL and data exploration in large datasets.
• Proficiency with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, experimentation, and hypothesis testing.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering).
• Clear communication and storytelling skills - able to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Scripting in Python or R for deeper analysis or automation - a big advantage.
• Experience with player progression, level analytics, or in-game economy modeling.
