About the Position
Join Twin Win Games as a Game Mathematician (Freelance). Design slot math models, run simulations, and validate math engines.
Responsibilities
Design the Math
- Build math models for slots - paytables, reel strips and weights, feature probabilities, RTP breakdown per feature, hit rate, volatility profile, max win and max exposure
- Run large-scale simulations (100M+ spins) to confirm the model behaves as designed, and iterate until the play experience matches the design intent
- Turn game concepts from designers into workable models - and pitch your own concepts when you see an opportunity
Ship it and Prove it
- Write math implementation specs that engineers can build from without guessing
- Validate and sign off the math engine: verify the implementation against your model, and help troubleshoot discrepancies
- Prepare math documentation for certification labs (GLI, BMM, iTech Labs) and support the certification process
- Write statistical summaries that a producer or an account manager can actually read
Keep it Healthy
- Support and tune released models and features; analyse live performance data and feed it back into new designs
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on slot math
- Strong probability theory and combinatorics - you can derive a distribution, not just simulate it
- Python for simulation and analysis (NumPy / pandas / SciPy or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel: building and reverse-checking par sheets, pivots, validating simulation output against closed-form math
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent - or a portfolio strong enough that we stop asking
- English B2+ - you'll write specs and certification documentation, and correspond with labs and partners
- Genuine interest in games. You should have opinions about why one bonus feature feels better than another
Nice to Have
- Table games or bingo math (house edge, side bets, prize-pool distribution, pattern probabilities, card/ball draw models) - or a clear appetite to learn it, since our roadmap includes all three
- C++ or another compiled language, for working close to the math engine
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (MGA, UKGC, Ontario, GLI standards) and responsible-gaming constraints
- SQL / BI tools for live-performance analysis
- Using AI models as part of your validation and verification workflow - cross-checking analytical derivations against simulation output, generating and reviewing validation scripts, catching inconsistencies in par sheets and math specs before they reach engineering or a certification lab.
