About the Position
HW ENGINEER - High-Speed, RF & EMC Focus
We are seeking a dedicated Hardware Engineer with a focus on high-speed digital interfaces, RF integration, and EMC for automotive applications to join our team at HARMAN Automotive in Bucharest, Romania.
Responsibilities
As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing electronic schematics and supporting multi-layer PCB layout development for automotive applications.
- Integrating high-speed interfaces (USB, Automotive Ethernet, video) and RF technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS).
- Applying signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC design principles throughout schematic and PCB development.
- Analyzing EMC requirements, performing simulations and risk assessments, and supporting EMC concept development.
- Setting up, executing, and evaluating hardware verification and EMC tests using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and near-field probes, EMC chamber.
- Performing root-cause analysis of hardware and EMC issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborating with hardware, mechanical, system, and validation engineers to resolve technical challenges.
- Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, including BOMs, test reports, design reviews, FMEAs, and release documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in electronic hardware development; automotive experience is a plus.
- Understanding of high-speed digital and RF design concepts, including controlled impedance, differential pairs, transmission lines, antenna integration, and wireless technologies.
- Basic knowledge of EMC principles and automotive EMC standards (e.g., CISPR 25).
- Experience with professional ECAD tools such as Siemens/Mentor Xpedition, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or OrCAD.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as SPICE and electromagnetic field solvers (e.g., ANSYS HFSS).
- Ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot electronic schematics and PCB layouts.
- Good communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
- Simulation Tools: Spice, 3D solver alike (i.e. ANSYS HFSS)
- Knowledge of automotive communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I²C)
- Understanding of EMC fundamentals and automotive EMC standards (e.g. CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637, IEC 61000-x)

Salary: L 202,500 - L 297,000 annually
Variable compensation and allowances: Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may also be available, such as quarterly or annual bonus pay, commission payments, long-term incentive compensation, or certain allowances.
