About the Position
Head of Banking Operations
Satispay exists to empower people through finance. We are looking for a Head of Banking Operations to join our team in Luxembourg. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe movement, settlement, and reconciliation of our customers' money at scale.
Responsibilities
- Payment rails and cards: Own SEPA, TARGET, domestic schemes, securities and fund rails, and the money side of cards. Cover foreign exchange where products need it, and keep us compliant with scheme rules.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile all client money daily. Every break gets an owner, a date, and a root cause, and you always know how much is unreconciled, how old it is, and what it could cost.
- Scale and efficiency: Handle much higher volumes through process and automation, not headcount. That means fewer failed or delayed payments, fewer manual steps, lower cost per transaction, and lower operational losses.
- New products: Get every product ready to launch, with the right accounts, rails, and controls from day one.
- Partners and expertise: Manage banks, processors, and other partners, with a tested backup behind each critical one. Be the company’s payments expert and give Customer Operations accurate explanations to use as they are.
- Team: Hire, structure, and develop the Banking Operations team.
Requirements
- European payment infrastructure expertise: Deep expertise across the landscape: SEPA rulebooks and R-transactions, card schemes and processing, SWIFT and TARGET. You have personally delivered at least one major scheme migration.
- Securities & fund operations: Hands-on exposure to securities, custody, or fund operations.
- Operations leadership: Experience running (not just supervising) operations in a licensed institution (bank, electronic money/payment institution, or payment processor).
- Financial rigor: Proven experience owning a reconciliation estate and driving breaks and operational losses down. A two-cent difference bothers you as much as a two-thousand-euro one - and you know which to fix first.
- Team builder: Demonstrated success in hiring, structuring, and leveling an operations team.
- Scaler: Track record of taking operations through a step change in volume using automation and process rather than headcount.
- Credibility: Highly credible across the table from correspondent banks, schemes, and regulators.
- Fast-paced environment fit: At home in a fast-growing, product-driven company: challenged by engineers and product managers, and challenging back with data.
- Location: Based in Luxembourg, or ready to relocate (required).
- Languages: Fluent English. Italian is a plus.
We Offer
- Health: private insurance for you and your family, psychological support with Serenis, mental health workshops.
- Financial resources: Stock Option Plan, meal vouchers, relocation support if you’re moving countries.
- Growth and development: professional development programs, internal mobility, language courses with Preply.
- Flexibility: unlimited PTO, hybrid working policy, flexible working hours.
- Family: enhanced parental leave, additional leave for child sickness.
We embrace three days per week in-office (Tuesday and Thursday + 1 of your choice), with the option to request extra remote time.
