About the Position

Head of Engineering (Boosters)

Boosters is a Ukrainian product company. We create global products in the Productivity and EdTech sectors that bring value to 60 million people. For us, it is important to build products with long-term impact - systemic, scalable, and able to remain relevant for decades.

We are currently looking for a Head of Engineering for our flagship product JustDone - an AI assistant for academic audiences, which helps to better work with scientific papers, study, and conduct in-depth research. We believe that AI can significantly change how people learn and work with information. Not through cheating, but through higher quality and deeper research, faster work with large amounts of information, and automation of formal and routine tasks. This way, students and researchers have more time for what truly matters - thinking, learning, and their own ideas.

The main goal of this role is to build an engineering function that allows JustDone to quickly experiment and ship product changes, while maintaining the stability of key systems.

Today, JustDone is

• 3+ million premium users;
• #1 position in the USA in the niche of AI Writing Assistants;
• 90%+ of user-generated content finds real application;
• Over 3 million units of user-generated content monthly;
• Own AI and NLP solutions: AI Detector, Text Humanization Engines, AI Research Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Translate business strategy into a clear technical roadmap and implement it in the form of systems, code, and results;
• Make key architectural decisions for web, native apps (desktop, mobile), and browser extensions (React, Next.js, Go, Postgres, AWS, AI stack);
• Develop AI-native engineering;
• Lead the engineering team: code reviews, mentorship, helping new engineers adapt, and prioritizing;
• Manage people: conducting 1:1 meetings, onboarding new players, developing PDP plans;
• Build effective interactions with NLP, product, design, and growth teams;
• Ensure infrastructure reliability and set up DevOps processes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of technical experience (priority - back-end development), with at least 2 years in a Team Lead / Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering role or equivalent position.
• Experience managing engineering teams of 10 people.
• Strong technical background and deep understanding of web and mobile product architecture.
• Deep knowledge in web and mobile application architecture: React.js, Web SPA (platform), Next.js; Go + PostgresDB + AWS + AI stack;
• Practical experience with AI/ML/NLP: model implementation, working with LLMs, and integrations via API.
• Understanding and practical experience with CI/CD, Docker, and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in product companies or startups that have undergone rapid scaling.
• English at B2+ level.
