Head of Global Partnerships - Cards

About the Position

We're seeking a Head of Global Partnerships - Cards to lead Wise's global card partnerships and strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of Wise's card programs, ensuring they align with our mission to make international money transfers easier and more affordable.

Responsibilities

• Own Wise's global card partnerships: Manage executive relationships with Visa, Mastercard, issuer banking partners, and strategic acquiring partners. Define global strategies, align commercial goals, and create long-term competitive advantages.
• Build and scale the world's best global card program: Define strategies for issuing and card acceptance, lead complex commercial negotiations, and improve the economics of customer spending and funding.
• Enable global expansion: Partner with regional teams to launch the Wise Card in new markets, balancing global consistency with local market realities.
• Build compliant, scalable card programs: Ensure card partnerships and programs remain compliant as Wise scales, navigating regulatory challenges and working closely with Compliance, Legal, and Financial Crime teams.
• Be Wise's card ecosystem expert: Understand the technical, operational, and commercial details of card schemes, issuer processing, acquiring, settlement, interchange, network economics, certification, digital wallets, and payment acceptance. Use this expertise to influence product strategy and advise Engineering and Product teams.

Requirements

• Experience working directly with Visa, Mastercard, or both.
• Deep expertise across the card ecosystem, including issuing, acquiring, scheme rules, network economics, commercial models, and payment acceptance.
• Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with card schemes, issuer banks, or acquiring partners.
• Experience launching or scaling card programs across multiple markets.
• Experience navigating regulatory and financial crime requirements that underpin global card programs.
• Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives, bringing together Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Commercial teams.

We Offer

• Competitive salary: GBP 125,000 - GBP 170,000 yearly
• Full-time position
