About the Role

As Head of IT, you will take on the leadership responsibility for a larger IT department with multiple teams and develop the responsible team leads specifically. You will combine strategic thinking with technological understanding and a clear AI-first orientation. You will work closely with the management and our departments and significantly shape our IT and digital strategy.

Our IT is in an exciting phase of development: We are introducing a new Learning Experience Platform (LXP), developing our grown system landscape into a lean, scalable, and highly automated architecture, and expanding the productive use of AI throughout the company. You will lead with conviction, stay close to technology and implementation, and create an environment where personal responsibility, learning, and pragmatism are lived. Responsibilities

• Development and responsibility of the IT and digital strategy in line with the company goals, including IT governance and enterprise architecture
• Leadership and development of a larger IT department with several teams as well as coaching and development of the team leads
• Establishment of a leadership culture with clear prioritization, personal responsibility, willingness to learn, and pragmatism
• Responsibility for the architecture, operation, and development of the system landscape with a focus on scalability, stability, performance, and low maintenance
• Strategic expansion of AI use in the company – from use cases and data infrastructure to governance, especially with Azure and Microsoft Fabric, to productive implementation and automation of administrative processes
• Selection and implementation of a new Learning Experience Platform (LXP) as well as management of SaaS providers and external vendors
• Steering of well-founded make-or-buy decisions based on the total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Technical responsibility for the website as a central sales channel as well as for the continuous data flow from the website via HubSpot to Microsoft Dynamics CRM
• Ensuring information security, IT compliance, and data protection (DSGVO) in the IT responsibility area
• Responsibility for the IT budget and the efficient use of internal and external resources
• Close cooperation with management and departments to translate business requirements into future-proof technical solutions

Requirements

What you bring

• Several years of experience in a leading IT position with disciplinary leadership responsibility for multiple teams and team leads as well as pronounced leadership skills, empathy, and experience in the development of managers
• A pronounced AI-first mindset as well as practical experience with the productive use of AI in the corporate environment, especially knowledge of RAG architectures, vector databases, and LLM integrations
• Sound knowledge in the development and implementation of IT strategies as well as cloud and data infrastructures, enterprise architecture, and IT governance
• Sound experience in the management and development of operational IT operations, including IT service management (ITSM), helpdesk, and IT infrastructure
• Experience with IT security, data protection (DSGVO), and compliance, ideally in handling sensitive B2C customer data
• Proven successes in the operation and continuous optimization of high-performance B2C websites or digital platforms
• Experience in vendor and license management as well as in the management of external providers and SaaS solutions and make-or-buy decisions based on the total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Entrepreneurial thinking, pronounced solution orientation, and the ability to set clear priorities even in a dynamic environment
• Successfully completed degree in computer science, business informatics, mathematics, or physics
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work at eye level with management, departments, and technical teams
• Fluent German and English language skills in speech and writing

What is a plus

• Experience in the EdTech or continuing education environment, ideally with knowledge of AZAV requirements and publicly funded continuing education
• Knowledge of our technological environment, especially HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Matrix42, and Microsoft Teams
• Experience with the selection, implementation, or development of Learning Experience Platforms (LXP)
• Experience with the automation and optimization of business processes through the use of AI agents and modern automation solutions
• Experience in the development of lean, scalable SaaS system landscapes and the integration of different platforms

The position is possible remotely within Germany. Through close cooperation with management, departments, and our IT teams, you are simultaneously centrally involved in the strategic and technological development of Karriere Tutor.
