About Tieto Payments

Tieto Banktech Payments is a leading provider of payments and cash management software and SaaS solutions for banks, serving both retail and corporate customers through secure, scalable account-to-account payment and liquidity management solutions.

Our solutions form part of the core financial infrastructure in the Nordic market and are embedded in national payment flows that are critical for banks and society. At the same time, Tieto Payments combines this strong home-market position with products and capabilities that have clear international relevance and growth potential.

Payment is a strategically critical domain within Tieto Banktech. Following a sustained focus on strengthening our offering, execution capability, and market positioning, we are now appointing a Head of Payments to lead and further develop the business.

The Opportunity – a transformation and growth mandate

This is a senior executive leadership role with full responsibility for the Payments business, including strategy, people leadership, financial performance, R&D, and delivery. As Head of Payments, you will lead a large and complex organization spanning product development, delivery, sales, and customer engagement.

A core mandate of the role is to build and scale one strong and integrated Payments business – safeguarding stability, trust, and reliability in mission-critical core markets, while accelerating profitable international growth. This is not a classic “run-the-business” role, but a business-building mandate combining strategic direction with strong commercial and operational execution.

You will report directly to the Managing Director of Tieto Banktech and work closely with the Banktech leadership team, key customers, and strategic partners. In this role, you will play a central part in strengthening Tieto Banktech’s position as a trusted, future-ready payment partner to banks in the Nordics and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall leadership of the Payments business, including full P&L responsibility
  • Defining and executing the Payments strategy in line with Banktech and Group priorities
  • Unifying and scaling the Payments business while protecting business continuity and delivery quality
  • Driving commercial acceleration, including market prioritization, international go-to-market execution, pipeline discipline, and partner strategy
  • Identifying opportunities to extend strong niche and infrastructure capabilities into broader market offerings
  • Ensuring strong execution across product development, delivery, operations, and customer engagements
  • Strengthening customer value creation through portfolio development, modernization, and partnerships
  • Ensuring robust governance, risk management, compliance, and audit readiness
  • Acting as an executive representative and thought leader for Tieto Banktech within the payment domain

What Success Looks Like

  • Payments is recognized by customers as a preferred strategic partner, with strong executive relationships, clear value creation, and increased relevance in customers’ payments transformation agendas
  • Measurable business growth in core home markets and selected international markets, supported by disciplined sales execution, strong pipeline conversion, and profitable expansion
  • Market innovation is accelerated through targeted use of AI, data, and modern technology to create differentiated customer offerings and new commercial opportunities
  • A clear modernization and growth roadmap is in place, strengthening scalability, delivery speed, operational resilience, and long-term competitiveness
  • A high-performing, well-governed Payments organization with strong leadership, quality focus, regulatory confidence, and sustained trust from customers and stakeholders

Your Background and Experience

You bring a combination of customer focus, commercial drive, and regulated-environment experience, including:

  • Proven leadership of large, complex business units or portfolios within payments, transaction banking, regulated fintech, or banking software
  • Strong understanding of payments, cash management, and account-to-account solutions
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership and a track record of driving profitable growth
  • Experience with software, platform, or SaaS-based business models
  • Proven ability to scale offerings from strong core or regulated markets into international contexts
  • Experience leading senior teams through integration, transformation, and growth
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including executive-level customer and partner engagement
  • Solid experience navigating regulated environments with high demands on governance and compliance
  • Fluency in English and a Nordic language; additional European languages are a plus

How We Work with AI

AI is a strategic enabler within Tieto Banktech – both in how we operate and how we build products. Our ambition is to make AI controlled, repeatable, and value-driven, embedding it across products, services, and internal processes.

As Head of Payments, you will help shape how AI supports modernization, scalability, efficiency, and customer value creation within the Payment domain – always grounded in trust, governance, regulatory compliance, and measurable business outcomes.

Who You Are

  • A trusted, confident leader with a strong strategic mindset
  • Commercially driven, with clear focus on customer value and long-term partnerships
  • Comfortable balancing stability in mission-critical environments with innovation-driven growth
  • A pragmatic and resilient change leader who creates alignment and momentum
  • A role model who leads with integrity, accountability, and clarity

What We Offer

An opportunity to lead and shape one of Tieto Banktech’s most strategically important domains at a pivotal moment. You will be part of an experienced and collaborative leadership team, operating in a business with strong market positions, ambitious growth plans, and significant investment in modernization and innovation.

Tieto offers a flexible hybrid working model, an inclusive culture, and strong opportunities for continued development at executive level.
