About the Position
Head of Planning - Parental Leave Contract
We are seeking a Head of Planning for a 12-month fixed term contract to lead strategic media plans at DAZN, Australia. As the Head of Planning, you will be responsible for developing integrated media and go-to-market strategies that align with our brand objectives and business KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of integrated media and go-to-market strategies aligned to brand objectives and business KPIs.
- Partner with Marketing, Digital, agency partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver effective, insight-led media plans.
- Allocate investment across brand and demand channels in partnership with the Head of Digital, optimizing performance against business targets.
- Act as a strategic thought partner, bringing a channel-agnostic media perspective to marketing and business planning discussions.
- Lead audience research, data analysis, and media opportunity identification to inform planning decisions.
- Oversee media planning and implementation processes, ensuring high-quality delivery across strategy, activation, and campaign reporting.
- Own and manage annual media budgets, including weekly spend tracking, forecasting, and reforecasting.
- Provide clear, accurate media spend reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders, working closely with the Media Reconciler.
- Manage the media agency relationship, including contracts, KPI performance, trading positions, and agency governance.
- Lead Media Mix Modelling activity, including data provision, interpretation of findings, and socialization of insights across the business.
- Contribute to internal and external quarterly business reviews.
- Identify longer-term strategic opportunities and build stakeholder alignment around them.
- Lead, coach, and develop junior members of the media planning team.
- Stay across emerging media trends, consumer behaviors, and planning best practice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related discipline.
- 12–15 years’ experience in media planning, ideally within a large, fast-paced consumer, entertainment, or subscription business.
- Deep knowledge of media planning principles, channels, measurement, and optimization practices.
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how media investment influences broader business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience managing significant media budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience leading and getting value from media agency partnerships.
- Strong analytical and numerical capability, with the ability to turn complex data into clear recommendations.
- Experience with Media Mix Modelling and using insights to improve investment decisions.
- A strategic mindset, with the confidence to challenge thinking and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and people leadership skills.
- High attention to detail and proficiency in media planning tools and software.
