About the Position
Humanitarian Mine Action Assistant (NTS/EORE Assistant)
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate, and promote durable solutions for displacement-affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently employing over 800 staff in Ukraine and implementing emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Humanitarian Mine Action Assistant (NTS/EORE Assistant) in Kharkiv.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a supervisor, the role will involve:
- Conducting direct and online Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) sessions for adults, adolescents, and children using standard and approved methodologies and distributing EORE informational materials as instructed.
- Implementing Non-technical Survey (NTS) processes by collecting evidence of contamination through analyzing documents, conducting individual interviews and focus group discussions, and conducting visual observations.
- Completing basic EORE/NTS documentation accurately and uploading data and supporting documentation into the information management system.
- Participating in the development of activity workplans and following them accordingly.
- Liaising with DRC Humanitarian Demining, Victim Assistance, and other DRC sectors to ensure an integrated approach.
- Liaising with community members to facilitate information exchange and support community needs assessments.
- Supporting procurement efforts, including developing the required documentation, upon request.
Requirements
Required:
- Education: Completed higher education.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including children and adolescents.
- Strong verbal communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Languages: Fluent in Ukrainian; basic English skills.
- Computer skills: Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desirable:
- Skills of public speaking/conducting trainings, presentations, or other activities with the audience in offline and online formats.
- Proven experience of interaction with children, teenagers, and adults.
- Negotiation skills and experience.
- Stress resistance.
We Offer
- Contract length: 3-month probation period, with the possibility of extension subject to funding and satisfactory performance.
- Duty Station: Kharkiv.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- Salary and conditions will be set in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
