About the Position

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, has been registered in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from various countries.

We are seeking an Information Management Officer to support the design, development, and implementation of information management systems in line with DRC’s MEAL strategy and programmatic needs.

Responsibilities

  • System Development: Support the IM Specialist in designing and implementing a country-specific Information Management system to store, analyze, and disseminate information based on DRC needs.
  • Data Management: Ensure data collected is well-organized and easily usable, considering how the MEAL and Program teams will need to analyze and report the data.
  • Mobile Data Collection: Code and thoroughly test assessment tools for MEAL and Program teams into Kobo or other platforms, providing technical input for tool design.
  • Knowledge Management: Ensure that knowledge and evidence are effectively gathered, documented, and disseminated. Contribute to the development and maintenance of web-based and local knowledge sharing platforms.
  • Capacity Building: Provide trainings on the IM system(s) to DRC staff and build the capacity of program teams in responsible data collection, entry, analysis, report writing, and data presentation.
  • External Representation: Represent Danish Refugee Council in cluster meetings or authority meetings related to MEAL/IM, and communicate the organization’s mandate, eligibility criteria for projects, and humanitarian principles.

Requirements

  • Generic professional competencies:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in information management
    • Ability to coordinate tasks and work processes and work with short deadlines
    • Experience with facilitating and leading internal organizational processes
  • Context related skills, knowledge, and experience:

    • Expert knowledge of Power BI, Excel, and other quantitative and qualitative data analysis tools.
    • Long-term experience in the development and visualization of solutions data sets.
    • Expert knowledge of solutions information management functions and coordination mechanisms.
  • Educational Qualifications:

    • Degree/Bachelor of Science in information management
    • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other data management and visualization tools.
  • Previous experience in humanitarian or development contexts.
