About the Position
Instructor – Fleet Management Assistant / Junior Service Writer Program
Location: St. Albert, Alberta, Canada
Job Type: Full-time, fixed-term contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Work Location: In person
Omnia Training is seeking an experienced and engaging Contract Instructor to deliver our 10-week Fleet Management Assistant – Junior Service Writer Program at our St. Albert training facility.
This opportunity is suited to an industry professional with experience in fleet maintenance, service writing, service advising, automotive administration, or shop operations who is interested in helping adult learners build practical, job-ready skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction and practical learning activities
- Follow Omnia’s approved curriculum and daily training schedule
- Explain fleet and service-department processes in a clear and accessible manner
- Demonstrate real-world work orders, customer intake, maintenance scheduling, and parts processes
- Facilitate role-plays, case studies, group exercises, and workplace simulations
- Create a professional, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor attendance, participation, and student progress
- Administer written, practical, and performance-based assessments
- Provide constructive feedback and additional support to participants
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and program records
- Communicate student concerns and progress to Omnia’s training team
- Work closely with Omnia’s Training Operations Director and program staff
- Maintain an organized and professional classroom environment
Requirements
- Relevant experience in fleet maintenance, service writing, service advising, automotive administration, parts, or shop operations
- Strong understanding of repair orders, maintenance scheduling, parts processes, and service-department workflow
- Experience using fleet-management, service-management, or repair-tracking software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to entry-level adult learners
Nice to Have
- Previous teaching, workplace training, facilitation, coaching, or mentorship experience is an asset
- Journeyperson automotive experience is considered an asset but is not required
- Experience working with diverse learners and employment-training participants is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
