International Intern, Political, Communication and Reporting Section

About the Position

The Office of the Head of Mission of the OSCE Mission to Serbia is looking for an intern for its Political, Communication and Reporting Section (PCRS). The selected candidate will undertake an unpaid internship for the duration of three months, with the possibility of extension for another and final three months, subject to the requirements of service and satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Policy and Coordination and supervision of the Heads of the two Units, the intern will carry out the following duties:

• Assisting in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading reports, correspondence, talking points, background materials, media summaries, articles, draft legislation, and other written products.
• Conducting fact-finding, research, information verification, and analytical tasks, and compiling information to support the work of the Office of the Head of Mission.
• Developing and maintaining overviews of the status of key reform initiatives and other priority issues on which the Mission provides assistance.
• Liaising with the Mission's field teams and programmatic departments to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and comprehensiveness of the Mission's written products.
• Drafting the daily headline news review and news updates and, when required, providing backup in delivering morning press briefings for the Mission's senior staff.
• Supporting the preparation of field visits and selected meetings, including drafting of meeting minutes, as required.
• Maintaining, organizing, and streamlining the use of the Units’ archives and information management systems.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Citizenship of one of the OSCE participating States, excluding the sole citizenship of the Republic of Serbia.
• Applicants should be under the age of 30 on the date of the deadline of this vacancy.
• Applicants who have already served six months of internship in the OSCE, irrespective of the duty station, are not eligible to apply.
• University degree in political studies, law, international relations, development studies, journalism, communication, or similar fields, or completion of at least two years of full-time studies in the aforementioned fields from an accredited institution in lieu.
• Previous experience in an international organization or in diplomacy, in governmental or civil society organizations, or in political organizations would be an asset.
• Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian language would be an asset.
• Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills.
• Political sensitivity and awareness of the national and regional context.
• Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages, and video conferencing software (Zoom).
• Ability and willingness to work with people of different nationalities, cultural and religious backgrounds, and diverse political views while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
• Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
