About the Position

Internship with the Shelter & Settlements, WASH and Infrastructure Sector

Are you looking for an exciting internship opportunity with one of the world’s largest NGOs? Then you might be our new intern starting in August 2026! Join us on our exciting mission to strengthen the newly established Shelter & Settlements, WASH and Infrastructure (SWI) Sector at DRC globally. You will engage with technical professionals across the organization and around the world, gaining valuable insight into DRC’s work for people affected by displacement.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of communications, visibility, and fundraising materials, including presentations, case studies, donor-facing products, and other content that strengthens external engagement, showcases SWI programming, and reinforces collaboration between SWI and PAER (Partnership, Advocacy, Engagement & Resource Mobilization).
  • Support Knowledge Management for the SWI Team, including developing, updating, and maintaining the database of regional operations, technical focal points, guidance, and programmatic resources.
  • Contribute to the identification, consolidation, harmonization, and dissemination of SWI case studies, Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), technical tools, and learning resources across country operations.
  • Support the maintenance of the SWI Insight intranet page, including uploading tools, guidance documents, maps, and other relevant resources to improve accessibility of sector information across DRC.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of SWI Community of Practice meetings, webinars, and internal learning events to strengthen knowledge exchange and showcase sector achievements and innovations.
  • Support coordination activities, minute-taking, and maintenance of internal communication and knowledge-sharing platforms (MS Teams, Facebook Workplace, WhatsApp, etc.) linked to the SWI Global Community of Practice.
  • Support research, learning, and other cross-cutting initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to present evidence clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Nice to Have

  • Basic knowledge of Shelter & Settlements, WASH, or related humanitarian sectors.
  • Experience with information management and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, Miro, Mentimeter, Kobo, Microsoft Forms, etc.).
  • Familiarity with design and graphic tools (adobe package).

We Offer

  • Contract length: 4-6 months subject to study requirements and further dialogue.
  • Work location: Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, just by Ryparken station.
  • Start date: August 2026. We can be flexible on the start date.
  • Working hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship.
  • 2,08 (unpaid) vacation days per month. The days can either be spent as you earn them or be accumulated.
  • Free lunch in our canteen (subject to our canteen being open).
  • Free participation in our year-end/summer party.
