About the Position
We are looking for a Monitoring and Response Department Engineer to join EVERSTAR, the first recruitment agency in MilTech for those who are ready to create the technological future.
Located in Kyiv, Ukraine, this role is integral to a company that develops and manufactures technology and electronic solutions for the defense sector.
This is an environment of quick decisions and constant changes, where it is important to efficiently manage processes, coordinate team work, and maintain focus on results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct round-the-clock or scheduled monitoring of the status, availability, and performance of IT infrastructure, information systems, and services.
- Quickly detect, analyze, and register events, failures, outages, performance degradation, and other incidents.
- Perform initial diagnostics of incidents, determine their criticality, priority, causes, and potential impact on service operations.
- Implement initial response to incidents according to approved regulations, procedures, and response scenarios.
- Ensure timely escalation of incidents to responsible technical departments, specialists, or external suppliers and monitor the progress of their resolution.
- Monitor the operation of monitoring systems, the relevance of settings, alert rules, and the completeness of infrastructure components coverage.
- Maintain records, support, and documentation of events and incidents in request and incident management systems, record actions taken, and response results.
- Analyze recurring and critical incidents, identify problem areas of IT infrastructure, and prepare proposals to prevent their recurrence.
- Participate in the improvement of monitoring systems, response procedures, process automation, development of technical documentation, and ensuring the stability and continuity of IT infrastructure operations.
- Develop and prepare work and technical documentation. Reports for management.
Requirements
- Higher education in the field of information technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related areas.
- Experience in system administration, network infrastructure, IT support, IT system monitoring, or IT infrastructure operation.
- Knowledge of the principles of IT infrastructure construction and operation: server systems, network equipment, virtualization systems, data storage systems, backup, and cloud services.
- Practical experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems, basic administration, and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of computer network principles, TCP/IP protocols, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, and network services.
- Experience with monitoring and incident management systems, and understanding of Incident Management, Problem Management, and Escalation Management processes.
- Skills in analyzing event logs, system messages, performance indicators, and other technical data to detect and diagnose incidents.
- Understanding of the principles of building monitoring systems, setting thresholds, alert rules, and controlling the availability of IT services.
- Ability to work with technical documentation, maintain incident records, prepare reports, and document the results of work performed.
- Analytical thinking, attentiveness, responsibility, ability to respond quickly to critical situations, work in a team, and independently make decisions within the defined authority.
