About the Position
We are looking for an IT Consultant to join Univention GmbH, a company dedicated to digital sovereignty, open IT infrastructures, and open-source software solutions. Our goal is to enable organizations, particularly in public administration and education, to have secure, independent, and manageable IT environments.
With our Identity & Access Management (IAM) and our modular open-source solution Nubus, we create flexible, interoperable, and sovereign IT infrastructures that meet the demands of modern administrations and educational landscapes.
Responsibilities
- Technical Project Leadership: You will take on the technical leadership in customer projects and ensure that our solutions are successfully implemented in challenging IT environments with your experience.
- Understanding Requirements: You will listen, ask targeted questions, and analyze the actual requirements of our customers and their IT architectures.
- Designing Solutions: You will develop robust architectures and concepts around UCS and Nubus for Kubernetes.
- Advisory Services: You will lead workshops and appointments, guiding customers through well-founded, understandable, and sometimes challenging technical decisions.
- Implementing Solutions: You will systematically implement typical installations, configurations, and integrations (e.g., Active Directory, Microsoft 365, or OX).
- Quality Assurance: You will accompany the implementation and ensure that the solutions meet the agreed-upon requirements.
- Driving Presales: You will evaluate feasibility, effort, and risks, actively contribute your assessment to offers, and create viable solution sketches.
- Product Development: You will systematically bring insights from projects to product management and development.
Requirements
- Experience in Customer Projects: You have several years of experience in technically complex customer projects – ideally as a consultant, technical lead, system engineer, or solution architect.
- Listening & Understanding: You can listen very well, ask the right questions, and recognize what customers really need – even beyond the initial request.
- Linux Expertise: You are confident in the administration of Linux servers.
- Broad Technical Foundation: You have solid knowledge in networks, DNS, Active Directory, LDAP, containerization (Docker), APIs, and single sign-on.
- IAM Understanding: You have a conceptual understanding of Identity & Access Management, user lifecycle, authentication, and authorization (e.g., SAML, OIDC, OAuth, Kerberos).
- Structure & Communication: You can clearly structure requirements and present technical concepts convincingly and understandably to different target groups.
- Work Approach & Mindset: You take on responsibility, work independently, and combine technical depth with genuine consulting competence.
- Language Skills: You speak fluent German and very good English.
Nice to Have
- Kubernetes Know-how: Experience with Kubernetes is helpful but not mandatory – we will support you in getting started if you bring solid Linux and infrastructure understanding.
- IAM Practice: You have already worked with solutions such as Keycloak, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), or ADFS.
- CI/CD & Tools: You are familiar with Git and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI).
- Presales Experience: You have experience in effort estimations and offer processes.
- Industry Experience: You know the requirements in the public sector or the education sector.
