Java Backend Developer (SMOB)

About the Position

We are seeking a Java Backend Developer (SMOB) for a contract position in Singapore, focusing on advanced troubleshooting and legacy modernization.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Lead technical investigations, performing detailed root-cause analysis (RCA) on complex production incidents and resolving critical performance bottlenecks.
• Feature Evolution: Design, develop, and deploy high-priority change requests (CRs), ensuring that new features seamlessly integrate into the existing core architecture without introducing technical regression.
• Structural Maintenance: Design and implement robust, long-term technical resolutions for system vulnerabilities rather than temporary operational workarounds.
• Legacy Modernization: Identify, architecturally refactor, and modernize legacy codebases to systematically improve application maintainability, scalability, and information security.
• Code Quality & Governance: Conduct rigorous code reviews, uphold exceptional coding standards, and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with QA, Product Management, and Frontend engineering teams to validate business requirements and ensure flawless end-to-end functionality.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional backend software development experience in an enterprise environment.
• Core Backend Stack: Advanced technical proficiency and hands-on programming experience in Java.
• Database Architecture: Strong, hands-on capabilities working with relational databases and writing complex SQL queries.
• Full Stack Familiarity: Practical, foundational knowledge of modern frontend frameworks and runtimes, specifically ReactJS and NodeJS, to support full-stack integration.
• Methodologies: Solid grasp of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), application debugging, refactoring techniques, and proactive system monitoring.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving instincts, an analytical mindset, and strong communication skills to mentor peers and align with cross-functional stakeholders.

We Offer

• Competitive Salary: S$5,000 - S$6,000 per month
• Location: Singapore
• Contract Type: Full-time contract
