  • Clean Code & Quality Engineering: Write clean, modular, and well-tested code (Unit, Integration tests) adhering to team standards and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate on release testing and validation to ensure seamless interoperability across mobile platforms and international identity documents.
  • DevOps Collaboration: Actively participate in infrastructure automation, observability, troubleshooting, and continuous platform improvements.
  • Agile Teamwork: Work closely with cross-functional team members, participating actively in sprints, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Requirements

  • Education: BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Java Foundation: Solid working experience with server-side Java engineering (e.g., Java 17+, Spring / Spring Boot, or Jakarta EE).
  • Cloud & Container Basics: Practical experience or hands-on exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments (GCP or AWS), with an eagerness to deepen your cloud expertise.
  • APIs & Databases: Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and relational databases (such as PostgreSQL or MySQL).
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of core application security principles, secure coding practices, and OWASP fundamentals.
  • Mindset & Drive: A curious, problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership of tasks.
  • Communication: Good professional proficiency in English (both verbal and written).
  • Site Reliability & Support: Take part in periodic 24/7 on-call shifts to support incident management and platform reliability.
  • Location: Located within commuting distance of Enschede (or willing to relocate), comfortable working from the office at least 2 days a week (most colleagues prefer ~4 days).

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Observability & Logging tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) or GitOps concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of frontend web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular).
  • Relevant cloud or Kubernetes certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer or CKAD/CKA).
