Responsibilities

As an engineer at Adyen, you will be responsible for the full development cycle from software design to testing and ensuring everything works as expected in production. You will work with one of the biggest PostgreSQL databases out there, focusing on maintaining the platform's performance and reliability.

• Build and maintain our distributed high-performance platform
• Be part of a diverse and inclusive team
• Launch fast and iterate often
• Take full responsibility from initial design to bringing new functionality live
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to make things happen, review code, and be open to feedback

Requirements

• Experience with Java, web services, REST APIs, and SQL / PostgreSQL
• Experience working with and deploying high-throughput and highly reliable services
• Proactive, takes ownership, and strives for quality from both a technical and product perspective
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• Team player who knows when and how to involve other people to hear different perspectives
• Ability to evaluate tradeoffs and balance speed vs tech debt
• Enjoy working on a global product that impacts millions of people every day

Nice to Have

• Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Elasticsearch
