Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is seeking for the Sustainable Economic Development Cluster a qualified staff member to fill the position of the Junior PR and Communication Specialist (full-time, Kyiv).

About the Position

The Sustainable Economic Development (SED) Cluster of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Ukraine comprises various projects implemented on behalf of the German government, the European Commission, and others supporting Ukraine to develop a resilient and competitive economic sector. Partners of the projects are Ukrainian ministries on the national level, administrations on regional level, stakeholders on the municipal level, and private sector companies. There are currently 10 projects in the cluster portfolio.

To guarantee the proper communication of the Clusters goals and results, we are looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of the Junior PR and Communication Specialist.

We are looking for a full-time Junior PR & Communications Specialist with a firm grasp of political realities and sensitivity to support the development and implementation of the cluster communication strategy with the aim to drive change through offline and online channels, to dynamically communicate to target audiences our work, key messages, and achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit communication materials (social media posts, texts, presentations, summaries, etc.)
  • Support preparation and coordination of photo and video production, including assistance with planning, shot lists, and on-site support during filming
  • Adapt content to different formats based on provided inputs
  • Ensure alignment with GIZ corporate communication guidelines
  • Collect and structure inputs from project teams
  • Track communication tasks and follow up on deadlines
  • Support preparation of communication materials for high-level visits, events, and delegations
  • Assist with basic on-site communication tasks when required
  • Support the preparation of ToRs, tender documentation, and procurement processes for communication-related services, including coordination with procurement colleagues and service providers
  • Support communication monitoring, reporting, documentation, and internal coordination processes, ensuring proper filing of communication materials and performance data

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in communications, political sciences, or social sciences
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience in the field of communications
  • Strong motivation to learn and develop in the field of political communications, with a willingness to understand how communication activities contribute to broader positioning and overall impact
  • Excellent representative competences and diplomatic skills, in particular networking and negotiating as well as a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sense of tone
  • High level of self-organisation and strong attention to detail, with the ability to keep track of follow-ups without losing ownership, ensuring consistent quality in formatting, wording, and deadlines
  • Good judgment in handling sensitive information and awareness of reputational aspects in communication
  • Ability to perform under pressure, including timely delivery of high-quality results
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team (player) skills, including cooperation with people of different backgrounds and cultural backgrounds
  • High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian, English is mandatory; German – good working proficiency (minimum B2 required)
  • Very good working knowledge of digital office applications
  • Readiness and ability to take on new topics and/or tasks and upskill, if necessary
  • Willingness to travel locally and abroad (depending on the security situation)

Employment Conditions

Full-time position with a 40-hour working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. Starting as soon as possible. The contract duration will be 12 months with the possibility of prolongation.
