Junior Software Engineer
Tech Stack
Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We’re looking for a passionate software engineer to design, develop, and deliver our core products.
About Montonio:
Montonio is an e-commerce checkout platform, loved by over 8000 merchants in the Baltics, Finland, and Poland. To date, we have raised nearly 19M € from Index Ventures and the people who built Wise, Bolt, and Pipedrive. We aim to be the go-to partner merchants can rely on to grow their business, one superb checkout experience at a time. 🚀
The Role:
At Montonio, we believe in true end-to-end ownership. As a software engineer, you'll dive into the world of e-commerce payments, checkout experiences, and shipping solutions with the autonomy to drive projects from conception to completion. You'll work directly with product managers, designers, and other engineers to shape ideas, architect solutions, and ensure their success post-launch.
What sets us apart is our commitment to engineer empowerment. We don't believe in traditional silos or specialized roles – you'll have the freedom to make informed decisions, observe real user behavior, and drive improvements that impact thousands of merchants. As a full-stack engineer, you'll be building merchant-first solutions while having the autonomy to truly own your work. If you're excited about this level of ownership and creating real impact, you'll feel right at home here.

Our Values
🎁 Delight our customers
Our success is a byproduct of being the best partner possible to our merchants. We delight our merchants in every interaction they have with us – from product to customer service.
🤝 Build bridges, not walls
We achieve more when we work together towards the same goals – within our teams and across the company. That means collaborating with intention, staying humble, and recognizing that we all benefit from helping each other succeed.
💂 Own the outcome
We trust you to make decisions and own your projects from start to finish. Owning something means more than just starting – it means bringing others along, making informed calls, and seeing things through. When mistakes happen, fix them and learn.
🚀 Take initiative and raise the bar
Progress doesn’t come from playing it safe. Don’t wait to be told. Spot what could be better, take the lead, and push things forward. That’s how we grow the product, the company – and ourselves.
🔍 Transparent by default
Being transparent helps us learn, align, and improve. We explain decisions clearly, welcome constructive feedback, and don’t shy away from tough truths – as long as we stay kind.
