KDB Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled KDB Developer with 6+ years of experience in q and KDB+ development for a global financial markets project. You need to have strong expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing high-performance time-series data systems using kdb+/q. The role requires hands-on experience across the Front-to-Back Trade Lifecycle and exposure to Trade Surveillance platforms. You will contribute to the architecture, development, and optimization of scalable market data and surveillance solutions while mentoring junior team members and promoting engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using kdb+/q.
• Build and optimize time-series databases for large-scale financial market data.
• Develop and enhance Tick Architecture, including real-time data ingestion and streaming analytics.
• Design end-to-end data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics pipelines.
• Work across the Front-to-Back Trade Lifecycle, including trade capture, enrichment, validation, risk, and post-trade processing.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of Trade Surveillance solutions, including market abuse detection, alert generation, and compliance-driven workflows.
• Optimize RDB/HDB performance, query execution, and data storage strategies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, quantitative teams, and technology teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, establish development standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Drive technical excellence through architectural guidance and development best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in q and KDB+ development, including architecture and optimization of large-scale time-series data platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with kdb+/q (KX) development.
• Deep understanding of kdb+ Tick Architecture, RDB/HDB, and streaming analytics.
• Experience designing and optimizing high-performance time-series database solutions.
• Strong knowledge of financial markets and the Front-to-Back Trade Lifecycle.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and scalable data processing.
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
• Ability to design end-to-end data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers.
• Proactive mindset with strong ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Trade Surveillance platforms.
• Knowledge of market abuse detection, alert generation, and compliance-driven workflows.
• Exposure to rules-based and model-driven surveillance systems.
• Experience working in Investment Banking or Capital Markets.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed data processing technologies.
