About the Position

Lab Technician - training will be provided!

Join SGS, the world's leading Testing, Inspection, and Certification company, at our East Syracuse, NY laboratory. We are looking for a Lab Technician to join our team in the Metals and XRD departments. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with multiple openings available. Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• Assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintain a Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
• Associates Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Advanced English language skills (Required)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation

The expected hourly range for this position is $20 – $21. This range represents the minimum and maximum base hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
