Laboratory Operations Technician

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain laboratory materials conversion equipment (roll cutters, slot-die coaters, lamination presses, laser cutters, punches, etc.).
  • Prepare materials for prototyping, including mixing, laminating, and adhesion processes.
  • Support dry-room operations, including handling of solvents and electrolyte filling.
  • Perform in-process quality checks and record process data in logs and software systems.
  • Assist with equipment setup, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
  • Safely handle chemicals, follow standard operating procedures, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to provide feedback on process performance and sample quality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in conversion workflows and laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with materials processing, conversion, or lamination equipment (e.g., printing, adhesives, composites, film, or semiconductor industries).
  • Experience in battery cell/pack prototyping is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work in a dry-room environment and handle solvents/electrolytes safely.
  • Basic data entry and documentation skills; familiarity with software tools for data logging is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to support equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and perform repetitive assembly tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks requiring dexterity and precision.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in dry room or controlled-environment conditions.

Work Environment

  • Onsite, hands-on lab and pilot line operations.
  • Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Swing shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Multiple roles are available across both shifts.
