Job description
About the Position
Wise is pioneering a new era of cross-border finance. As we expand our footprint in Brazil, we are looking for a FinCrime Product Compliance and Risk Manager to join our team.
In this Individual Contributor (IC) role, you will be the bridge between complex Brazilian Financial Crime regulations and our Product/Engineering teams. Your mission is to enable the launch of innovative products and partnerships while ensuring our FinCrime risk profile is managed through robust, scalable, and customer-centric controls. You will ensure that Wise Brazil remains compliant with BCB Circular 3,978/2020 and other key regulations without compromising the seamless experience our customers expect.
Responsibilities
-
Control Design & Product Innovation
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to design KYC, AML, and Anti-Fraud controls that are practical, scalable, and customer-oriented.
- Perform pre-launch and ongoing FinCrime risk assessments for new products and features.
- Ensure controls scale with the product by developing automated monitoring processes to mitigate financial crime risk effectively.
-
Regulatory Risk & Advisory
- Provide expert advice on existing and forthcoming BCB and CMN regulations (e.g., Circular 3,978/2020, among others).
- Translate "regulatory problems" into technical opportunities, helping teams build risk-based products from the ground up.
- Collaborate with 2LOD (Compliance) to stay ahead of regulatory shifts and ensure the Product team is aligned with current guidance.
-
Audit, Remediation & External Relations
- Oversee the remediation of FinCrime-related issues and ensure timely mitigation of regulatory risks.
- Lead responses to regulatory audits and partner due diligence; challenge findings where necessary in collaboration with 2LOD.
- Represent Wise in meetings with Banking Partners and the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB), articulating our FinCrime framework and product logic with clarity.
Requirements
-
Expertise
- Deep knowledge of Brazilian FinCrime regulations (specifically BCB Circular 3,978/2020) and their application in Payment Institutions and FX markets.
-
Technical Fluency
- Ability to communicate effectively with Engineers and Product Managers, providing actionable recommendations rather than just quoting policy.
-
Problem Solver
- A data-driven approach to compliance, using regulations to drive smart business decisions.
-
Ownership
- A natural owner who drives projects from inception to completion with extreme attention to detail.
-
Languages
- Fluent in English and Portuguese (mandatory).
-
Global Mindset
- Comfortable working across time zones with a collaborative, "think outside the box" spirit.
Nice to Have
- Experience with B2B partnership compliance.
- Familiarity with CVM regulations or investment management compliance.
- Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, or specialized Risk & Control software.
We Offer
- The chance to work at the heart of the product development cycle in one of the world’s fastest-growing Fintechs.
- Direct impact on how millions of customers move and manage money in Brazil.
- A high-autonomy environment where you are empowered to lead solution designs for complex regulatory landscapes.
