Job description
About the Position
We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to join a migration project focused on moving a large set of applications and data from an on-prem environment to AWS. With the foundation already in place (AWS landing zone, internal cloud team), this role is all about execution. You'll be part of a small, experienced team of 5–8 people, expected to work independently, self-organize, and keep momentum without constant oversight.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of day-to-day migration work and keep things moving
- Lead by example through hands-on involvement rather than pure coordination
- Work closely with the architect to apply the agreed migration approach
- Ensure migrations are carried out consistently across the team
- Address real-life issues such as dependencies, environment gaps, and unexpected blockers
- Stay in sync with client teams whenever input or action is needed from their side
- Take responsibility for outcomes rather than waiting for instructions
- Maintain structure and process without overcomplicating the workflow
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with cloud migrations, with a clear understanding of common pitfalls and risks
- Proficiency in AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) and lift-and-shift migration approaches and tools
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools
- Skills in CI/CD pipelines and scripting (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Understanding of network fundamentals and troubleshooting (VPC, routing, subnets) in cloud environments
- Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Proficiency in English at a B2+ level
- Proficiency in Greek
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes
We Offer
- Remote and hybrid work opportunities
- Option to work from our centrally located office in Athens
- Corporate laptop provided
- Private health insurance
- Meal vouchers / restaurant tickets
- My Benefit card (264€/year)
- Monthly public transportation card
