Lead iOS Engineer - Date
Locations: Austin, US / New York, US
Employment Type: Employee - Regular/Permanent
Work Location Type: Hybrid
Salary: $265,000 - $285,000 a year
Responsibilities
As a Staff Engineer on the iOS team for BFF and Plans, you’ll help shape the technology behind products that spark real-life friendship, belonging, and community. Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting technical direction for complex iOS initiatives across Bumble For Friends and Plans.
- Leading the design and delivery of high-quality iOS features end-to-end.
- Championing Excellence by evolving Swift-based architecture in a large production codebase.
- Shaping performant, accessible, and localized user experiences using deep knowledge of UIKit and SwiftUI.
- Taking ownership of reliability and performance across the iOS experience.
- Collaborating with purpose across mobile, backend, product, design, data, and safety partners.
- Mentoring engineers through design reviews, code reviews, architecture discussions, debugging practices, and testing strategy.
- Staying curious about responsible AI-assisted development workflows.
Requirements
- Typically requires 10+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.
- Strong proficiency in Swift, deep experience in UIKit, and working knowledge of SwiftUI in production environments.
- Designed, evolved, and maintained scalable iOS architectures in large codebases.
- Strong iOS concurrency and performance expertise, memory management, rendering performance, startup time, network latency, and crash or regression analysis using Xcode debugging tools and Instruments.
- Strong experience with Combine framework and Swift Concurrency.
- Understands how to integrate and consume networked APIs from iOS clients.
- Strong knowledge of iOS platform fundamentals.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, Github Actions).
- Takes ownership of complex technical problems and demonstrates an agile mindset.
