Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain internal platforms that empower development teams with self-service capabilities for deploying, monitoring, and managing applications at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain internal platforms that provide development teams with self-service capabilities for deploying, monitoring, and managing applications at scale
  • Develop and maintain standardized tools, frameworks, and libraries to streamline development workflows and promote best practices across multiple teams
  • Ensure seamless integration of various development tools and services within the platform ecosystem to support a large number of development teams
  • Improve the overall developer experience by providing robust documentation, training, and support for platform tools and services
  • Implement practices to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of the platforms, supporting the needs of numerous development teams
  • Utilize DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, Mean Time to Recovery) to measure and improve the performance of development and operational processes
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance platform functionality and developer productivity
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and support of applications
  • Provide technical guidance and support to resolve platform-related issues and improve overall system health

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of related experience in platform engineering or a related role
  • Understanding of software development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
  • Proficiency in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) and GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD)
  • Familiarity with tools like Crossplane, Pulumi, and AWS Controllers for Kubernetes (ACK) for managing cloud resources
  • Experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) such as Backstage, Humanitec, and OpsLevel to enhance developer productivity
  • Understanding of and experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Skills in scripting with Bash, Shell, and Python
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resources to application stack traces
  • Good English communication skills (speaking, writing, and reading)
